The Rules
There are a number of rules that we expect you to comply with during the tour. Any team that does not follow these rules will be disqualified and black listed from any future Gemin-i events. Your names will also be sent to the managers and relevant organisres of all other Banger Rally events organised from the UK. This may seem mean but all organisers of Banger Rallies are working together to ensure that they are as safe as possible as, as such, any anti-social or potentially unsafe behaviur will not be tolerated.
DRIVE SAFELY - Drive drive according to the law. Drive within your own limits, the limits of your passengers, the limits of your car, and giving due care and attention to other road users.
MOT & INSURANCE - You must have full MOT and insurance documentation with you when you travel.
CONDITION OF VEHICLE - Your car must be fit for the road, and have a valid MOT for the duration of the tour. It should also be able to pass any police spot check.
INSURANCE - The car and drivers must have a valid car insurance to drive in the UK and Europe. We would also recommend break down cover.
DRIVING LICENCE - All drivers must have a valid driver's licence and have held it for at least 1 year.
ALCOHOL - Alcohol must not be consumed in the vehicle (not even by non-drivers) and all drivers must be under the legal limit, as per each individual country's laws, before entering the vehicle.
THE CAR - Vehicles classed as bangers must cost £250 or less, however, participants are encouraged to spend as much money as is necessary on making the vehicle safe. Vehicles worth more than this may participate but will not be eligible for most prizes.
FOREIGN COMPLIANCE - It is the responsibility of each team to know and comply with any applicable driving laws of any country they may visit. Some countries require certain safety equipment to be on board.
COMMUNICATION -There should be at least one roaming enabled mobile phone per car so that you can call us in case of an emergency and we can update you on the progress of the tour.
DISPOSING OF YOUR BANGER - If you wish to dispose of your car once you have reached the destination we do offer support as is set out in the Event Guide. It is, however, the responsibility of you and your team to dispose of the car legally and safely, which includes having all of the correct documents to do so.
RACING - This is a tour, not a race. Cars found to be racing each other or driving recklessly will be disqualified. We have no qualms in reporting teams to the police if they are putting other members of the tour or the general public at risk.
LEGAL AGREEMENT - All participants will be required to sign a Legal Agreement agreeing to the above rules and indemnifying the organisers of the event.
